Action and Self Descriptive Words

1.  What is an action word?  An action word helps you use your “active voice”.

2.  What is a Self Descriptive word? A Self Descriptive word describes actions you have accomplished in many positive ways.

3.  What is the importance of using action and self descriptive words? The importance of action and self descriptive words makes you stand out as an individual and really catches the eye of the reader who is looking over your resume. 

4.  Why is a bulleted stlye in your resume more reader friendly? Bulleted style in your resume is more reader friendly because they will find your resume more readable with bullet points other than a paragraph. 

5.  How long does your potential employer scan your resume for? You potential employer scans your resume for between 2.5 and 20 seconds.

6.  List the ways in which you could potentially “clutter your resume”. You can potentially clutter your resume by A.using unnecessary dates, b. using parentheses, C. using references points, and D. using articles such as “a”, “an” and “the”.

7. What are three tips you learned from this site? I have learned how to market myself in a positive way, be organized with my resume, and writing tips. 

8.  What does giving your resume a face lift mean? Giving your resume a face lift means revising it an updating it. It also means improving the way it looks

2.  Why do you have to keep your resume up to date? Keeping your resume up to date shows new things that you have accomplished, and could open up new jobs for yourself.  

3.  When you are looking for a job out of college, will you include your elementary school under the education section? No, you would not because they more mostly looking only for high school and college education.
